Inspired by their parent’s church mission work, Ralph Wetherell and his sister, Lori Bellacicco, along with many supportive friends and family members, began to explore what it would look like to establish a thrift store in Mount Pleasant.  It would be modeled much like the one that their parents were instrumental in founding in Bluffton, South Carolina back in 2010 called “God’s Goods”.  The idea began to take shape with a simple equation:  receive, revitalize and sell gently-used, donated items and give all the proceeds to community organizations in need.

As the vision and excitement grew, groundwork to find a location started and the administrative tasks to become a non-profit were launched.  A few hands multiplied to many more and countless prayers were lifted.  With praise and thanksgiving, in September 2022, God’s Goods Thrift Store-Mount Pleasant opened its doors in The Plaza at East Cooper on Johnnie Dodds Boulevard. Though the Mount Pleasant location shares the same name as the Bluffton store, they are in fact independent of one another and generously supportive of each other’s success.

God’s Goods-Mount Pleasant has been warmly embraced by the community.  Being staffed entirely by volunteers (no one in the store draws a salary), we initially were able to open for shopping and to receive donations during limited hours Wednesday through Saturday only.  After only 2 years in our original store, we received an offer too good to refuse.  After many more prayers, we took a leap of faith and relocated approximately 7 miles north to the Sweetgrass Mercantile Building on Highway 17.  We were able to significantly expand our operations both in receiving/processing merchandise, but also by being open to the public 6 days a week from 9am to 5pm!

God is Good!  And we are God’s Goods.   Please stop by our store to say hello, browse our shelves and help us continue our mission to give to those in need from the wealth of blessings we have received.
